INTRODUCTION
We are Sarayoopareen Brahmin. It indicates that our ancestors were living near Sarayoo River. Our latest migration to Ratsar, Ballia, (U.P.) was nearly 500 years back, from a place known as Mamkhor, which is situated near Gorakhpur in U.P. We are basically Shukla Brahmin, having gotra as Garg. It signifies that our original guru was rishi Garg, who is considered to be highly learned and respected among the top three rishies of that time. Other two rishies are Gautam and Shandilya. Our ancestor came on gaddi of pandey family of Baiju Baba, hence our surname become “Pandey”.
Baijoo Baba was very courageous, fearless and respected person. He was killed in a land rivalry. After his death, his sister’s family was called back to take care of the property of Baijoo Baba and we are her descendants. Baijoo Baba had other two brothers also, whose names were Janau Baba and Jagdev Baba. All the descendants of Baijoo Baba were originally settled in Baijoo Pur, Ratsar and Chhatwa but now they are spread all along the world. The descendants of Janau Baba and Jagdev Baba were initially settled in Janau Pur and Jagdev Pur respectively, but now they are also spread all along the globe. These villages are situated nearly 4 km east-south of Ratsar village.
